Opening titles really set the tone for the movie you are about you watch. Usually overlooked and often better then the actual movies themselves. In recognition of this really cool, under-appreciated art form, we present our new weekly feature: Cool Opening Titles.
This week we’re featuring the opening title for Napoleon Dynamite, the little picture that could. Made for $400,000, the film grossed over $44 million in the box office. The opening features a catchy tune by Jack Black of the White Stripes and incorporates items that represent the main characters in the film. These were not the original titles for the film and were created after Fox Searchlight had purchased the film at Sundance.
