IN HONOR OF JULY 4TH SPORTS VIEWING, I OFFER THESE URBAN SPORTS FOR CONCERNED CITIZENS WHO WANT A LITTLE ACTION:
I never played organized sports growing up. No football, track or baseball in my developmental matrix.
I have played a couple of unconventional " sports " offered here for your consideration.
BOUNTY HUNTING was one sport I played off and on for years. It consisted of positively identifying your opposing player ( this is the one of several urban sports where a MAJOR penalty is false arrest allegations ); approaching him and using restraining force to eventually handcuff and take him to the county jail. This last part can involve wrestling and the use of equipment ( pepper spray, stun guns and, for players who carry them, firearms ). I was unarmed during most of my games, or carried pepper spray at the most. I credit my soothing bedside manner for the lack of fights I had with fugitives I caught. They didn't want to go but we didn't have to hurt each other.
LOSS PREVENTION IN A MAJOR CHAIN SUPERMARKET whose midtown location gave me the chance to chase several opposing players and in one memorable instance, tackle a captured suspect player who was about to run as the transport officer from the former SPD came to get him. Another noteworthy game involved removing a homeless man from the porch of a burning home around the corner from the above mentioned store.
EVENT SECURITY AT VARIOUS NIGHTCLUBS both here; Hinesville and nearby South Carolina. The games in these locales varied from peaceful one-on-one encounters to UNpeaceful one-on-one encounters to, one WILD night in Hinesville, a bar room brawl involving roughly 300 patrons, civilian and military.
For the concerned citizen interested in choosing an urban sport to provide him a sense of public service and satisfy any hunger for adventure, try one or all of these!
