Just a note. They are only shooting at vehicles overtaking them at speed. They do not shoot at vehicles passing in the other direction or vehicles that are not gaining on them. As the film only shows brief instances of vehicles approaching from the rear at speed and nothing else, I cannot make a judgement on what is happening. I can tell that the film is of low enough quality that there is no way I can see what the people in the vehicle where the camera is can see. IE . if the vehicles overtaking them have people with guns in them. From this film it seems as if they are shooting at cars that are approaching them rapidly from the rear. What I cannot see from the film, but what they probably can see, is the occupants of those vehicles. I am making no judgement as I have insufficient evidence to make a judgement, however I know that often people see what they want to see. From this film alone, it is impossible to tell if the cars they are shooting at which are overtaking their vehicle are filled with random civilians or masked gunmen. Just a note for those who are incapable of thinking for themselves and have relied purely on the caption of this video...Because from the caption and the soundtrack imposed over the video it is obvious that the people who edited this film want the viewer to believe that the shooters are unjustified. I am not willing to accept the altruism of the editers, as I see little objectivity in the media lately. And if the conclusions that would be drawn from the film without the nifty soundtrack and the caption would still be drawn without the presenter trying to make the viewer prejudge what he/she is seeing, then why the caption and the soundtrack? If it is so obvious, then why the necessity to doctor the footage and make a claim to the viewer that one could draw for themselves after seeing the, undoctored, film. Which is the entire point, which has been lost both on contemporary journalists and their viewers, for journalistic integrity.

If this was an unaltered authentic video it would been the subject of an investigation before now. Either way, if this is intended to portray the US in a poor light, or if this video is authentic, it should be dealt with. There are cruel and demented people in this world, that's exactly why I cannot accept this video without some further scrutiny.

This is vehicles that are getting to close. tThey are not hitting the vehicles all the time. The vehicles are not to approach they vehicles at all!!! They know that and they only get close to do harm. Next time you make a snap comment, get educated first. Ask any military convoy personnel and they will fill you in.

The last clip shows a military convoy(hummers) on the other side of the divided hwy and traveling the same direction, but not taking any evasive action when the gunnman shoots out the back of the vehicle. Tells me they have seen this before and it may well be for good reason. These blackwater dudes blow threw checkpoints and take out people driving too close behind them. I can understand why...they want to make it home. Good luck guys. Shoot first ask questions later...sorry lefties, war is a bitch!

What an attack on civilians, how brave. I wish I could cruise down a street with my friends popping caps at people that I think might be posing a threat what a pile of bullshit. The cars that are coming at high speed from the rear are being shot at but they are not traveling that fast and where are the shots fired at them. This is a case of joyridin assholes shooting at whatever they want. SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU GIVE AN IDIOT A GUN!!!

fuck you morons. you have no idea what we face on the roads here. sit in your living rooms and make judgements on our legislators if you want to do something constructive. until you've walked in my shoes, shut the fuck up. i'm coming home from here alive. if iraqis weren't so stupid, we wouldn't have to deter them from approaching our convoys. why don't you learn something about arabs and their ways before you stick your foot in your mouth.

I agree with uxokid he is still there and dealing with these people on a daily basis. I spent a year in that hell hole doing convoy ops from the turret of a gun truck and i can tell you the actions taken in this video ar not inapropriate. They are also sanctioned by and in accordance with the rules of engagement as i understood them to be while i was deployed there. Here is what the camera DID NOT show you. The guys in this truck are waving frantically to get the drivers to back off and slow down. There are signs fixed to the rear of the vehicles written in 2 languages that VERY CLEARLY state in huge giant bold letters the distance at which lethal force is authorized and MANDATORY. If anyone crosses that line they must be dealt with in an appropriate manner. If you look closely at each, admitedly, grainy video, you will see the first rounds ALWAYS impacting a non lethal area of the vehicle so as to get the attention of, and make thier intentions clear to, the vehicle occupants. If they for some damn reason dont get the point then yes the passenger cabin is targeted and fired into which pretty much alleviates the threat. As it should be. I and those who served and continue to serve take no pleasure in killing another human being. But i did and will again if called to so that the people we are sworn to protect at the cost of our very lives can make it home to thier families. Hopefully we can all make it home togeather because i and those like me did what was necessary to save more lives than are lost. Also keep in mind the media shows you what they think will be the most sensational pieces of video to boost thier ratings. Dont get me wrong I am sure that there are atrocities perpetrated on both sides in this conflict because that is the nature of war. That is no excuse, i agree. It is also not a disclaimer which makes these horrible and infrequent incidents o.k. What it is is a suggestion to maybe take media editing with a grain of salt, put on the uniform for a

... as i was saying befor i ran out of space... That is no excuse, i agree. It is also not a disclaimer which makes these horrible and infrequent incidents o.k. What it is is a suggestion to maybe take media editing with a grain of salt, put on the uniform for a year and go do the job. When you get home, look at your above post and compare it with how you feel after having lived through a deployment. What i can promise you is judgement tempered by the wisdom of being terrified most of the time, and of profound sadness at the loss of your fellows in uniform, as well as the lives you had to take to survive. You will further temper your newfound wisdom with the knowledge of the depravation, uncertainty and sheer chaos associated with taking on the responsability of the lives arround you. You will then have occasion to thank soldiers like uxokid and myself who helped you get home to your family maybe at the cost of our own life. To uxokid. Be safe and continue to do what is necessary to get your people and yourself home safe. Thank you for your dedicated service and your selfless commitment to everyone back here that for whatever reason cannot know the horrors you live with every day. Continue to take no chances with the lives of those you serve with or your own. DO WHAT YOU MUST TO SURVIVE. I will pray for you and your comrades to return to us as you left us...ALIVE!!! and in ONE PIECE! an old saying from my now disbanded unit: It is better to ask forgiveness than permission. Will you pro war wing nuts shut up and do a little research before you post.

The video was 1 of 4 vids and was on a www.aegisIraq.co.uk, the site is used by employees of Aegis Defence Services, probably the largest mercenary company in England.
It was created by their employees.

And yes the Brits did launch an investigation into it.
And by the way these private security/mercenary companies are not subject to any form of regulation either in the US, Britain or in Iraq while under contract in Iraq.

After the video was posted it was taken down and the following message was posted by the founder of the company, a Lt Col Spicer, which reads: "I am concerned about media interest in this site and I remind everyone of their contractual obligation not to speak to or assist the media without clearing it with the project management or Aegis London.

"Refrain from posting anything which is detrimental to the company since this could result in the loss or curtailment of our contract with resultant loss for everybody."

Lt Col Spicer, rose to public prominence in 1998 when his private military company Sandlines International was accused of breaking United Nations sanctions by selling arms to Sierra Leone.

if the shooters intention was to kill innocent civilians at random then you would not see a short burst of fire and in most instances the driver pulling over and stoping. its kind of hard to do that when you've been shot in head or upper body. to anyone who left a heated message against the war. ask yourself does anybody ever listen to someone spout off about something they know almost absolutely nothing about. would you go to a class lecture about writing taught by the guy who takes your orders at taco bell. you may think you know everything but unless you have been through something like war i can not take your opinions seriously (pro or con). its funny how the ones who hate war the most are the ones that want to kill the most as to quote ToMZOO " i hope they all die painfull deaths" if you really want to change the world but not through force join the pece core and help some poor village in africa. then i would respect your opinion but not while you sit on your fat ass watching newscasters rant their opinion to an "open minded" person.

To all you flag burning draft dodgers and to the kids you raised to think like

you every war, conflict, battle and skirmish that has taken place in the history of these grate United States of America have happened for a reason to keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave! If a people's

anyware in the world threaten the security of our nation directly or indirectly

then America must take action and remember that the bad guy's don't have

to play by the rule's if we don't fight them in there country we will have to fight them in ours and that is not acceptable by any means we have to get the job done there so we don't have to do it here I will be dammed if I'm going to allow some camel smelling jockey blow anything up in my country

so when people here are protesting the war they don't realize that if they were in other countries around the world they would probly be shot or thrown in jail to rot so while we are doing what is necessary to survive and

continue to provide the freedom that most American's take for granted the bad guy's continue to plot against those very freedom's so when you watch video's like these don't judge the individual behind the weapon until you have been in his or her's boots because the feeling of I could die today is like none other you have ever felt when you know that around you there a sick race of people trying to keep you from going back home to those you love and cherish so remember that we are there for a reason. Think to your selves don't it feel good to live free. Do something positive support our troups and private contractors for everything there doing for your freedom!!

you guys dont even know the mission or the rules of engagement. i was there and have been blown up twice defending the on ground general and the us ambassador. there is not enough special forces to have them doing this work. they are out doing what they are suppose to be doing direct action missions. we get nothing, except our pay. not health not life nothing. therefore our pay is higher. we have no company size of troops not even a platoon. just 12 guys. no air support and not much options for calling for help. thats why the military doesnt do it. its a hi risk, no support job. there is no cavalry to come to the rescue. our many years of specialized training is like having a super education you pay your employee appropriately consistant with there job level and expertise/skill sets for said job. we take the same oath we did in the military. we have a true allegience to one govt. the US and its constitution. you must know the whole story before you can pass judgement. thanx for your bias in this. nothing will haunt me more then having to use my letherman to cut what was left of my buddy out of a blown up suburbman. there is more to the story that is to painful to tell.

god bless our troops, the hell with the us government. god forbid we go 20 without a revo;lution. the government serves the governed. its our right to amend or abolish them when they no longer do so.
