That's pretty lame. Pauly Shore or not, just let the guy do his job. Same thing with Kramer, if I pay for a show the last thing I want is some dumbass redneck ruining it because he thinks its funny or just doesn't know better. What's happening to people in this country? This aint Wal-Mart.

It's really sad that Pauly Shore has to resort to this lame publicity stunt to get ANY attention nowadays. Criminy.

I'm not a fan of Pauly. But it seems with the recent events this may become a trend with people that really have no business being in public. As long as sites like this, youtube, myspace, and ebaumsworld, we have people trying to instigate performers and other people just for the sake of getting more page or profile views. Remember when watching video's like this, live performances are not like television. You can not yell at the performer and get surprised when he actually speaks back. As Americans we are seeing a spike in sensitivity. If you plan to watch a live comedy show, remember that the performers are up there for a reason. If you wish to be the star or think that you can do better, by all means, go try an open mic night. As for this being a publicity stunt, if it is it's a great one. Who would think of going to Odessa, TX to do this when your mom herself owns one of the popular comedy clubs in the country? People are stupid. It looks like there was some really stupid people in that show. I just hope people don't think all of Texas or all Texans are like that.

Foreboding Prediction from an article pre-dating the tragic event --- [[Shore, in a telephone interview from Los Angeles, said he LOOKS FORWARD to the show in Odessa and the realness of the small venue. “It’s like right there in your face,” he said. He compared a stand-up performance to a game of tennis because it’s interactive with the audience. “You say something, they laugh,” he said. “You say something, they laugh. Someone says something; you say something back. It’s like a wave; you just ride it.”]] Tennis? More like Ice Hockey!!!

I would never applaud anyone who responds violently to a verbal assault. It shows they are extremely weak, have no intelligence and give in to peer pressure. I would venture that if that idiotic crowd had not egged him on, he would have sat down. That moronic inbred deserves to get his tractor farm-ass sued like he most likely will, as well as for the police record he has just invited upon his dumb-ass, sorry existence. He had no business going on stage. I think Paulie Shore is a no talent idiot, but he did not deserve the assault. My guess is that the hecklers brought on whatever Shore said. It's the same old story. People in the crowd who have no courage to get up on stage try to steal the spotlight from the safety of the darkened seats. I hope cowboy's life gets turned upside down and backward and then pulled out of his ass.

If the stupid red-neck jerk in the audience didn't like what he heard (or didn't understand it) he should have taken his wife/sister/cousin/sheep and left...but they resort to hitting cause they are IN-BRED NO NOTHING MORONS!!! You know I am amazed how how the hate towards what people call "rednecks". Besides the fact that the assault was very uncalled for, how is this any different than if a person of color had done the same thing? Are there not deaths in the cities across this country everyday for piddly shit? Yes I agree this guy is a an idiot for getting up there and throwing a punch, but the racism ( thats what it is!) against someone because they are what people consider a country boy is just as disgusting as when a white person uses the N word. Yet we all know it's ok for Afro -Americans to call each other that on a daily basis, just not a white person. Some of you probably wouldbe the first ones to jump all over the Police for profiling someone based on their appearance, yet you all have done that very thing here!

funny thing is, kcwlf29, a lot of us would agree with you, but over-emphysising your point makes people overlook WHAT you said and focus more on your cockiness an the fact posting 6 times is annoying. i agree....the use of "red-neck" is used with just as much hate and disgust as "nigger". it is a stupid classification of people and should be treated similarily. but people freely go about classifying people as red-neck, and it is socially acceptable. that is ridiculous. a stereotype is a stereotype and stereotypes are bad for all if we want to live in a society filled with less hate. let's just attack THIS guy, instead of a whole demographic.

i find this trend appauling!! not the fact that paulie shore was hit, the fact that certain audience members just can't shut the hell up and allow these folks to do their job. if the audience is that unhappy with the performance then get your ass up and find the manager (of the club) and demand your money back~other folks didn't pay to listen to your dumb ass remarks,l they paid money just like you did, and might just be enjoying the show reguardless of how pathetic you think the performer is~ theres a door where you entered, don't let it hit you on the way out!! i don't want to hear any more boo~hooing from audience members who are disappointed from the shows they see. what this coward did wasn't cause paulie pain,i'm sure there will be someone standing near the stage to protect the actor/performer from harm, at other members shows from now on, if not i'd demand it! what happened to kicking people out of such shows when they won't shut the hell up!! they are kicked out of theaters, why not do this is this situation?? i hope this man was handcuffed and had his butt kicked in jail... in ohio we'd be grateful to have someone like paulie come perform for us. most of texas is an ungrateful state that has no sense of humor... oh, yes you do, look at the dumbass who couldn't take a joke...

I'm not a big Paulie Shore fan , but, the Jethro Bodine clone, inbred MORON who punched him should have his ass sued off Big Time !!!! I mean he should lose his tractor AND his doublewide !!!! Please don't think for one second that all Texans are like him. I am from Texas and proud of it. There are good people AND ignorant dipshits everywhere and this could have happened anywhere else !! The 65,000.00 question is: Where in the hell was security when JETHRO was storming the stage? The club owners should be sued for failing to provide proper security along with Jethro !! Thirdly.... One day bully Jethro will run into the wrong person and... well.. I've never seen anyone bad enough to beat a well placed bullet !!

amen to that gary d.!! thanks for clarifying my thoughts about texas. i do agree w/ you that this could have happened anywhere~ i hope someone keeps us informed as to the aftermath of this story, i want to know what is going to happen to protect the performers. i know not all of the performers are assulted, but ones like what happened with richards (??) those guys could have easily gotten up and left w/ their money, instead of resulting in shouting matches between the performers and audience members~ i wouldn't have paid any money to hear either side shout obsenities. but you know that performers are all the time calling on the audience to make jokes at, and the audience usually laughs along, as well as the person being joked upon... as in paulie's case the man was an outright bully, and i'm sure somewhere down the road a fan of paulie's will get this jerk back, not that we want that to happen, but you can't use forms of violence to solve disputes, just because someone tells you to shut the f*** up, doesn't give you a right to punch them.

Beings I live in Midland, all of ten miles away, and I go to 8'th Street Comedy Club often I have to say I am not the least bit suprised this happened. Obviously the redneck had no right to attack someone over words, but it was bound to happen the way that club is laid out. What you cannot see is that the stage is about 3 feet tall and all of a foot from the tables where people sit. Also, the club takes multiple drink orders. Which is to say that you have to order at least three drinks at a time so the wait-staff isn't as busy. So people get drunk, quickly. It isn't a good club at all, the owner always opens the shows and he himself is a terrible comic. This incident will probably kill the chances of any other known comic coming back to Odessa which is too bad. But the idiots that live around here seem to consume and shit out anything fun for the rest of us with brain cells. And yes, Odessa is a shithole. The saying goes that you raise kids in Midland (good economy decent city), and you raise hell in Odessa (strip clubs, porn shops, and industrial work all over the place).

It was only a matter of time before someone that thought they were getting ripped off and made fun of would take action. Richard and Sal from the Howard Stern show are next!

46/47 is right. TMZ talked to the Odessa Police department. It is just an example of another "Let's-Bash-Texas-and-any-other-Red-state" mentality that is becoming more and more common. Shore should stick to his only talent..."voice-overs" for cartoons...at least no one will have to look at him.

If this is real, I agree that it is really more sad than anything. Pauly was abusive and over confident, but the audience laughing and cheering at someone being beaten is the most chilling aspect. It's happened to me in real life. A bully strangled me with his hands and a couple came right up to watch and laugh as it was happening. It really devastated me. My first thought was to Jerry Springer. It's like people want to be "extreme" and they don't really care why as long as the experience gives them access to power they otherwise lack in our society. This was this bully's 15 minutes of fame. Although it can't be compared to a lynching in the racial prejudice aspect, on a social level it has some similarities, with the cheering and laughing, as if someone else's fear and pain are "fun."
