Description: firing 155mM HE (M198) against insurgent mortar positions. Western Anbar, Iraq fall 2006. Rockets and mortars frequently targeted COP Rawah. Arty was alway quick to respond with the help of radar. Such attacks grew less frequent as the same unit, working with recon and others, was tasked with running nightly patrols outside the base hunting for insurgents and weapons. Later, the same guys worked in nearby towns rounding up suspected insurgents and other infantry tasks. This unit was like a swiss army knife, doing a bit of everything. (less)
